What is Cross Context?

Cross Context is an open-source browser extension (Manifest V3) that functions as a universal portability layer for generative AI web interfaces. As users navigate between frontier models such as OpenAI ChatGPT, Anthropic Claude, Google Gemini, xAI Grok, and Perplexity AI, conversations routinely fragment. Users lose accumulated constraints, reasoning progress, code snippets, and active problem definitions whenever they hit rate limits or switch tools.

Cross Context solves this by operating directly inside the browser DOM. It extracts structured conversation packets into an open JSON schema, estimates token expenditures and context window consumption, and injects complete working states into target LLMs in a single click—100% locally with zero cloud telemetry.
